Technically Speaking
Balance, as defined by Wikipedia:
balance is used to mean a point between two opposite forces that is desirable over purely one state or the other, such as a balance between the metaphysical Law and Chaos — law by itself being overly controlling, chaos being overly unmanageable, balance being the point that minimizes the negatives of both.
I ask, is the path to balance, a straight path or one that follows a maze like direction.?
I think we all can define a pretty generic balance if asked too. However I think one might find that their sense of balance is quite unique if compared to anther’s idea of balance. Why is this. Well, we all have different experiences and so our individual gauge of balance will fall in the middle of those experiences. For example, if I am an Olympic runner and my experiences consist of training each and everyday to win the Olympics, my idea of balance might be explained as pushing myself to the next level in order to win. However if I am an artist, and my job is to paint the emotions I am feeling, my balance might be a suitable transference of my emotions, as well as being understood by the world.
Balance in a Day
I don’t believe you can simply decide to achieve balance one day and then set out on that journey, because you would then find your life now to be imbalanced by definition. The search must be more like an insightful journey in which one uncovers clues each and everyday, while going about their global purpose. I imagine it to be like Sherlock Homes uncovering the next clue in the greatest mystery every solved! (You’ve got to get curious) You might say that’s a person’s balance comes from within their being and is measured by their ability to adapt to the present moment at hand!
According to this guy, balance is both a straight arrow and a maze like path. First he lifts up the rock and then he must wiggle is around to find the balance point. What a great search for that middle point of existence.
The most, interesting part to this video is the many different experiences people have from such a simple action. He explains that most people behave comically, some are negative to the idea, and a few are greatly moved like the woman at the end.
So I guess you can’t replicate another person’s exact balance because it will not be the same balance for you, nor can you create a balanced experience for everyone because each person will experience that balanced situation uniquely. The only thing you can hope to do is become balanced yourself and then create a space, where others’ may have the opportunity to find their own balance as well.
