Today, was the day of the Longmont turkey trot. which was held at the local Middle School and traveled around the neighborhood! I have been super pumped as I run the turkey trot every year. However this year I participated in the turkey trot held in Boulder. Very different experience as it was 35 degrees out the whole time. Now of course I show up with running shorts, a tee shirt, and a thin shell to wear as a jacket. The plan was to run the 2 mile fun run as I had not been training really. Somehow though I founded myself mixed up in the 10K race which was about 3 times as long. I started running and I didn’t realize this was the case until about half way through. At that point there was no way I could stop, so I just shrugged off the fatique and finished with a time of 53:35. Not bad for my first 6.6 mile race. I also met a bunch of really cool people, including a pro biker who is now a trainer, a pro triathlon racer, and some people selling a new energy drink called Bazi. I also won a drawing for a free box of the stuff. Pretty cool! So it was a great morning and I was really amped that I had finished. On turkey day Mom and I will run the Denver turkey trot which will also be a lot of fun!
Check out the scores: They recorded my time wrong as is I distinctly remember looking at the clock as I passed the finish line, but oh well at least I still placed!
